Today was the dreaded surgery for Hana. The morning started out well, we stay at home until 10:30. During that time we had many new toys to play with and fun things to do. So the fact that she could not eat or drink was not really an issue (praise the LORD!)
Hana got a new puzzle (from the dollar store- note- dollar store puzzles aren't great)

Took a nice bubble bath

And painted with new (dollar store) paints.

The real fun started when we got to the hospital. The waiting place, as I like to now call it. We waited for TWO AND A HALF HOURS in the waiting room before they called us back. We then went to the pre-op room (which had a TV so Hana was great) where they got her ready for surgery. Hana went willingly to the anesthesiologist nurse and was great for her (with her new friends).

Jack and I then grabbed lunch (Hana couldn't eat all day, so we really couldn't either). We only waited for her to get out of surgery for about an hour and a half (much less than the 2 hours we were told). We went back to the post-op room and awaited her arrival (this was about 3:45). She came back dead asleep. She slowly woke up (without the screaming that I was anticipating) and ate and ate and ate. She had 2 (grape) popsicles, a 6 pack of peanut butter crackers, and 3 gram crackers. She also drank lots of apple juice. One of the nurses said that she was the best patient that she had all day (she probably said this to everyone, but Hana was REALLY good!). We waited forever to see the DR. Once we finally saw him, we were assured that everything went great! She will even be able to take a bath on Sunday. We finally picked Brooke up (thanks Emily!) and made it home at 6:00. It was a LONG day and I am very glad that it is over. Now I can focus on going to NYC next week!
Thanks for all of the prayers that were said for Hana throughout the day!
