slip-n-slide

Yesterday, I got out the slip-n-slide. The girls had a great time playing with it :) It is really nothing more than glorified puddles at the age, but whatever, it was still fun!

Brooke liked trying to catch the water :)

Hana liked kicking the water and drinking it!

15 months with Brooke... and Hana :)

Today we had Brooke's 15 month appointment. I can't believe that she is 15 months already!! Where did the time go?
She is healthy but still tiny. She weighs 18 lbs 5 ozs (< 3%) and is 29.25 inches tall ( 20%). But her head is 60% of kids her age! So I guess she is tall and thin with and big head :) but such a cutie!
She has also started drawing on the "Doodle Pro". Here is some of her art work.

I also had to share another Hana-ism. We were reading through one of her magazines that had a poem about what you wanted to be when you grow up. It was a cute poem that had many job choices for the future, So when he finished reading it, Jack asked Hana "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Hana answered "sixty".
I hope she makes it longer than that... I would hate to deprive the world of more Hana-isms!

A week in the life...

As several of you have commented, I haven't updated the blog in a week. We have been busy and I just haven't gotten to it... so here you go. Our last week has been eventful and full of new achievements.

Hana

Hana has really enjoyed playing at the beach (in the water!) and the pool. She still doesn't want to go under the water or get water in her face, but still she is doing good! She has learned what "family" is and comments regularly that we are her family. We are still working on making words. She can spell c-a-t and a couple of other simple words.
Her current favorite reading material is the coupon book. A week or two ago she saw the coupon book and wanted to look through it. I told her it was fine and she could look at it as much as she wanted... well she has! She reads it just about everyday and wants to take it to bed and nap each day! Who would have thought!! I guess she is learning to find a good deal early!

We were at the store earlier this week and we walked past a big jar of pickles. Hana said "I love pickles". I said "since when?" and she mater-a-factly answered "Thursday".

Brooke
Brooke is walking pretty much full time. So she can finally wear shorts! (she couldn't when she was crawling because it scratched up her knees.) She can stand up with out pulling up on something. She just kind of puts herself in a bent over squat and pushes up.
She also loves hats. It doesn't matter the size, shape, or color, she wants to wear it. She will bring me the hat and say "ha" ha" until I put it on her head. Here she is experimenting with one of my hats.

So cute!

She is doing pretty well switching from two naps a day to one. That is one of the reasons that we have been going and doing every morning... to make this transition easier. She is also saying a few "words". She puts her hand on her head and says "hai" "hai" (that is hair). She has "hot" when we give her something to eat (whether it is hot or not). She still says "dog" and "cat". She hold her baby and calls it "daddy" (one of the few clear words she can say). It doesn't matter how many times I say "baby"... she repeats "daddy"

So that is the update on our life... I hope you enjoyed it!

Beach day

Today we went to a friend's house at the beach. Actually it is her parents house, and they have graciously allowed friends to come to their house every Wednesday. The house is beautiful and has a little beach on the sound so there are no waves. It is great! Hana loved playing in the water! She kept saying we were at a different beach that had no waves.
Here she is playing in the water.

Brooke has taken to climbing in chairs... go figure!

Cutie pie

Some of the other people who came :) It was a nice group!

Several days ago I was trying to give Brooke some applesauce for breakfast. She did not want to eat any from me. Hana gave it to her and she ate it up...

Brooke walking and saying "no"

Brooke has some new skills. She actively shakes her head “no” when she sees something she doesn’t want. It is nice when we are eating and she can tell me what she wants and doesn’t want to eat. It is not so nice when I am handing her to Jack for bed and shakes her head over and over. Well I guess she finally has opinions :)

She is taking more and more steps. We got her today taking several. She had taken a few before I got the camera ready.

Hopefully walking will soon be her main mode of transportation!

Brooke loves baby

I just wanted to share this video of Brooke loving her baby. She rocks it, pats it's back, and puts it in the stroller... what a cute little Mom. She falls, but never lets go of the baby. She even says baby :)

Hana-isms

I just had to share a Hana-isms.
A few days ago I was carrying Brooke around and I told Brooke that she was adorable. Hana says "Mom, she's not a door... she's a Brooke"

We are also teaching her the importance of the classics... warm it up Kris...

(sorry it is so dark... the important thing is that you can hear it)

A tale of two pools

We spent Saturday outside in our back yard with our baby pool. We filled it with water and the girls played all morning.

They ate lunch, took a nap (a very good one!) and we were all back in the pool in the evening.

What could be better than that??!!

We found out on Sunday! After church, our friends Jimmy, Hilary, and Taylor invited us to cook out and play at their very nice big pool. The girls had a great time playing in the water.

The adults had fun talking and eating some very yummy burgers. Just like college... minus those three adorable kids :)

Jimmy learned about life and "sometimes" from Hana

They all enjoyed some (very old) popsicles.

Hana enjoyed it the most!

Thank you for a great day by the pool!!

We love you :)
