A Tourist in your own Town

Every so often (I think every year, but I am not sure) Wilmington has "Be a Tourist in your own Town". Many places around town have free admission to New Hanover County residents. EVERY YEAR we miss it. I always hear on the news "today was... be a tourist in your own town day" (this is why I don't know how often they have it- we always miss it!). I was determined to know this year! Well, we finally learned that it was today!
We made a trip to one of the local museums (not, the Children's Museum- it was not free and kind of expensive). We went to the Cape Fear Museum. We had been there once before in college (I had to go for a class and Jack came with me). It was not so geared for kids... but we had fun anyway!

There was one section that was about ecology. Here is Hana checking out hurricanes

and building the parts of a tree

I was very impressed with the scale model of Wilmington during the Civil War. It was the one thing that I remembered from my previous trip. (if you click on the pictures and look at them up close, the detail is very impressive)

And this thing was a HUGE tree sloth that was found in Wilmington... weird huh

I will leave you with a cute picture of Brooke and Jack at the "beach"

It was a fun free trip :)

Okay that picture of Brooke and Jack is really cute...was it a background? Or photo shopped? It totally looks like it!
