one of the local gyms has an "open gym" time on wednesday and thursday mornings.  our moms group decided to go.  the girls had so much fun!!  we even discovered a new talent for madeline... she can hang on the bar and lift up her legs.  which i think is pretty good for her age :)

shortly after her hanging debut, she fell and bit her lip which resulted in quite a lot of blood.  she was fine, but it did cause us to end our outing a little sooner than planned.  man lips bleed a lot!!

new stuff!

i realize that time has gone by with no posts... so i thought i would just do a big update all at once :)

• i am training for yet another half... this one is march 20th.  i am not as motivated this time around.  i mean i am training.  it just isn't quite as exciting. my goal is to make my time faster... so i am working on that during my short runs.  that at least gives me a goal!
• hana is half way through her kindergarten year... crazy!! she is almost 6! we are planning her party (it is her year for a big one). time flies!
• brooke is still brooke.  she is cute and can be very charming.  but she is very whiny (as is hana).   we got away from whining for a few months, but now it is back in full swing!
• madeline always amazes me.  she is almost 17 months and is still tiny.  she is putting 2 (sometimes 3) words together. she said "dank yoo book" (which is thank you brooke) today.  we are working on her animals, shapes, and colors.  she is really coming into her personality.  climbing on things... saying no... fun times!
• jack is super busy at work.  which is good and bad.  he is really busy, but he does get to do overtime, which is always helpful!
• we are in the process of looking for a dog.  we have been for a while...months.  but our criteria is VERY strict.  we want 40 (at most 50) pounds, with short hair or hair that doesn't shed.  we like pointers or greyhounds.  they are very active, but that is ok since i am running several times a week. we will see what happens. i am sure you will know if we get one.
• i am working on some sewing projects.   I DID NOT SEW THIS ONE! but this is what i am working on.  tshirt dresses for the girls.  one of my friends came over yesterday to show me how to get started.  she made this one while teaching me how to do it.  i will try to make the other 2 ;) i may try to add a bow or something... i am still playing around with it :) it is all new to me! ill let you know how it goes!

 

i thought i would end this update with some -isms...  

both of these happened today ;)

Brooke- she was eating goldfish in the car. "mom did you know that the goldfish are swimming around in my tummy?" 

Hana- when hana got home from school today she jumped up to give me a big hug. she said "it is getting hard for you to hold me." i said "yes, you are getting so big!!" to which she answered... "yeah and you are getting so old."

my first sewing project!!!

with the kid's first day back to school and some time to myself i did a project! my first sewing project!!
when we painted the den/ kitchen (almost a year ago!) i got rid of the curtain i had but couldn't find one to match... so i made one!!
this was my first project and i am SURE not all of the lines are straight... but i am pretty proud.  i think it turned out really well :)

 

 

"it's no-wing, it's no-wing"

i keep telling my children that it is unusual for it to snow in wilmington. but since it has snowed for the last THREE years in a row... they are having a hard time believing me!!
unfortunately we started out this weekend with things not going so well... we were all sick (well 4 out of 5). brooke threw up friday night, then me and hana saturday, and jack saturday night.
so hearing that it was going to snow, school was canceled, and we were stuck in the house for yet another day did not make me excited.
but to stave off cabin fever, we did some fun things.

we started by painting some fish (hana got them yesterday at a birthday party).then the girls played outside in the snow and they lasted longer than they normally do!all except for poor madeline...when they came in they got to drink some yummy (homemade!) hot chocolate!!

madeline did get some of that... her cup just isn't as cute for picturesso far the "no-wing" day has been fun!!

Christmas day :)

so here we are at christmas morning...
my sister and her family left christmas eve. so it was just nana, poppy, and our family christmas morning. that defiantly cut down on the ciaos. all in all it went pretty well. everyone got to open their share of presents and it even snowed!!! so after a (kind of quick) Christmas lunch we headed back to wilmington. it only snowed on us a little on the drive back so it was perfect for playing with our new GPS!!
the day after christmas (in the middle of snow in wilmington!!) mimi came over for round 2 christmas! i even got a sewing machine! i can't wait to make lots of stuff! i haven't made anything yet, but it is only a matter of time :)

the ONE thing brooke wanted for christmas was a dragon. so she got one... a cute one!
she loved it right away!

hana's one main request was for a doll house...
