so i just wanted to share a few things that i have been doing and how they are saving us money. some of these things you can do, some are just answered prayers for us :)
- angel food ministry. this is a great ministry. it is pretty much a nationwide program that gets food at wholesale and then puts them together in "boxes" and sells them to the public at really cheep prices. and the food is really good.
- "time of usage" through your power company. now we haven't gotten our first bill yet, but we have high hopes! your power company has a program that allows you to use your power at "on peak" and "off peak" rates. in order for it to work, you have to make a conscience effort to use your major appliances during off peak times (which during the winter is 1-4pm, after 9pm and all weekend). we will update this once we have actual prices to show how it worked for us! we are also unplugging all major appliances when we are not using them.
- the grocery game. it is a website that gives you a "list" for a particular grocery store that matches up the grocery store's sale prices and coupons so that you can get things really cheep. the idea is that within a 12 week cycle everything will be on sale (one week will be paper products, the next week might be canned goods) so you stock up on things when they are really cheep. i have just started this. today i bought $50 worth of groceries and paid $31. i will let you know how this goes.
- ppd gets a discount at alltel (this is one that is just exciting for us). we just found out and put into affect the discount... it is 15%! yea!

Hey Tiffany! Thanks for sharing your ideas. I will definitley check back to hear what you thought of these. I am going to pass on the one about the grocery store as well. What a neat looking website. I am not sure if you shop online much, but one thing I do before I buy anything online is go to www.retailmenot.com to see if there are any coupon codes for the website I want to buy from. People post codes on there for tons of different sites. I love to feel like I am getting a deal.
aside from the grocery game, keep your eyes peeled on the weekly circulars for grocers. you can find them online. harris teeter and food lion are really good about putting their boneless chicken breasts. chicken breasts w/ bone in and whole chickens on SUPER good sales. and when they do, todd and i usually stock our freezer full. i mean hey, you can make a lot of stuff w/ chicken. especially whenyou know you just practically robbed the grocer ;)
