sickness, a baby, and pre-school ending... what a week

Hana was really sick on Tuesday with a virus and a fever of 104. It made for a day of laying on the couch, watching movies, and sleeping.

Jack stayed home so that I could go to my final MOPS meeting. I was really thankful that he was here so that I could say good-bye to all of my MOPS friends.
It also gave him a chance to spend time with and comfort Hana.

That night I got to go see Monica and Riley in the hospital. Riley is so cute and Monica is doing really well! You have to love new babies!

Today was Hana's last day of pre-school. It was bitter sweet. I know that we are all going to have a wonderful summer, but it was sad that her first year of "school" was ending. It was a really great year for her and I am so thankful she was able to go!

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a nice Memorial Day weekend! As you read, Saturday started off with a bang!
Later Saturday, Hana and Jack went to the aquarium.

Of course Hana loved the alligators :)

We were crazy and decided to go to the beach on Memorial Day Monday. In order to ensure a parking place we got to the beach at 9 am. We did indeed find a parking place (yea!).

The girls enjoyed playing in the sand and in a bucket full of water.

Neither one of them wanted anything to do with the ocean. Oh well.
Finally some friends joined us (at what would be "normal" time... but after being there for a hour and a half, it felt like they were late). The girls played with George while Josh was playing in the water. (You can see prego Monica in the picture- she is having her baby tomorrow!! )

It was a fun day at the beach!

Good Luck tomorrow Monica!! I can't wait to meet Riley Claire!

The spoon

As some of you know, my sister got a toilet paper roll stuck on her finger when she was 10(ish). Well this morning history repeated itself... a little earlier.
We heard Hana crying. When Jack went in to get her, she had stuck the edge of a spoon on her finger and COULD NOT get it off. She was crying hysterically and shaking. We tried to pull it off. When ever we did this we were met with screams and crying. So we decided to try and put some ice on it to get the swelling down so it would slip out... no luck. I then tried to cut it off, but the scissors were too big and awkward to get it off. We then tried some wire cutters (that I used for making necklaces and bracelets). After many minutes and a lot of cuts it finally came off. The entire ordeal took about 30 minutes. Man what a way to start Saturday morning!

Concert at Mayfaire

Every Friday night at 6:00 there is a band at Mayfaire in a small field. For whatever reason, we had never been before. So, we decided to make a trip over there, pack a picnic, and enjoy the music. We also planned to meet up with friends. Me, being me, thought it would be a good idea to get there early. So we arrived at 5:45 claimed our spot and ate our picnic dinner.
Brooke ate her dinner in her stroller.

The music started at 6 and Hana enjoyed dancing.

Brooke later got out of the stroller and tried to push it (her favorite thing to do).

Me and the girls enjoying our selves :)

Daddy and Hana (early in the evening) posing for the camera.

Hana playing with friends with a balloon that later flew away.

It was a fun night!! We didn't get home and put the girls to bed until 8:15 ish. That was almost 2 hours later than Brooke normally goes to bed. For that extra late bed time we got a total of 45 extra minutes of sleep in the morning... and ahhh what a morning

Brooke's new tricks

Brooke has started doing some new things lately so I thought I would share them.
She is taking steps from one sturdy object to the next. Yesterday in fact, she took four in a row to walk to me. I am not saying that she is going to be running a marathon or anything, but she is really making progress!
She is also saying a lot of new "words", I guess she will be the one who talks early and walks late. She says "mama" and "dada" again (she stopped for a while), she says "ct" for cat, "ddd" for dog and "hey" (well I like to think it is hey... she says it right after I do). Those are the only words that I would count that she can say... but she is working on a lot more!
Here is her newest trick... it is pretty cute!

This is what Hana thinks of her sister!

Hana's preschool finale

Today was Hana's preschool finale program (although they have 3 classes left). It was really cute. They sang lots of song and Hana did well. She enjoyed singing AND dancing. The video is a little shaky but enjoy it! You can see her two teachers in the video and most of the kids from her class :)

I love the dancing and that in the last song she spots us and yells "Hey Brookie!"

The video was too big to upload to the blog, so I had to do it through photobucket. So, it may look a little different :)

Play-date :)

We had a play date at my house today. It was a nice chance for friends to come over and for our kids to play together. Not much more to add, other than it was fun... here are the pictures.

Everyone enjoyed the swing set!

Hana pulled Grace and Anna around in the wagon... go Hana!

They enjoyed playing in the house, even Brooke got a chance to play!

Hana and Josh played in the sand

It is so nice to see the kids actually play together! It was a really nice day!!

Fun times this weekend

Mom and Dad came in town for the weekend to watch the girls so that Jack and I could go to Heather's wedding.

We went to the beach on Saturday. It was a really nice day :) The weather was perfect and we ran into Monica, Jamie, KJ, and Chris + kids. Even though Hana wanted NOTHING to do with the water, it was still fun!
They enjoyed playing in the sand...

and pushing a truck :)

And feeding a very random beach duck :)

On the way back to the car I asked Jack and Mom to dress the girls (I always bring a clean outfit to dress them in after showering them off so they will be ready for bed when we get home). When I got to the car I noticed that the girls were wearing each other's outfits. Way to go :) (But in all fairness the "wrong" outfits did fit each of them). Fun times!

Later Brooke showed off her new skill of pushing chairs

Here we are getting ready to leave for the wedding. I felt like I was going to prom with all of the pictures ;)
The full length shot...

And close up.

It was nice to see and catch up with old friends. We even got to conduct a social experiment... if you put just a purse on a table, will anyone sit there? No, but they will take the chairs... more results to follow.

Here are a couple of posed pictures at the reception... my trademark. There are no pictures of the wedding. The entire thing lasted only 18 minutes (from first brides maid to them walking out of the church) NICE!

And outside once it got dark

It was a fun eventful weekend all around!

Playing under the door

This happened Monday, but I am just getting around to sharing it.

Monday, after I put Hana in her room for her nap I noticed that Brooke had crawled down the hall. I then noticed that Hana was "playing" with Brooke from under the door. Hana would stick her fingers under the door and "get" Brooke, who would squeal in delight. This repeated itself over and over, for about ten minutes. Enough time for me to get several pictures and many videos. It was pretty cute. Brooke started banging on the door from the outside and I could hear Hana banging from the inside. Although it was supposed to be nap time, it was still cute to see them playing.
Here are some pictures :)

And here is one of my new short hair cut... you can see how much Hana likes it (really this is just the face she makes when we want her to take a picture). I don't care...I LOVE my hair! ;)

Two finally pays off!

After a little over a year, having two girls finally pays off! They entertain each other! They play with each other... without me!
The last several times we have gone to the park, Hana pushes Brooke in the swing. They love it! Hana laughs and Brooke squeals in delight! (I have no pictures to share- but it is a joy to watch)

And today they played with each other for a while. No fighting, only sharing and playing. This leaves a happy Mom to watch in pure delight! Maybe before too long, I won't even have to be there!

Happy Mother's Day to me!

Brooke loves playing with her big sister :)

3rd and 4th ... and the "walker"

This is a Brookie update all around.

After and mere 13 1/2 months Brooke is finally working on teeth number 3 and 4. She got her first 2 teeth around 10 months, but the second set seemed to be a bit stubborn. Well, now she finally has 4 teeth to bite me with :)

Here is one more video of Brooke walking while pushing something. She is getting so good at using the "walker" she may never need to walk by herself. Not to worry though, I am sure she will not be pushing her "walker" on the way to kindergarten (at least we hope not!!)

I mean if the cheering doesn't get her to walk, I don't know what will!
Oh and I got her some new shoes to help her walking :) aren't they cute??!!

Weekend with the girls

Jack got to take a much deserved golf weekend with some friends, so I got to spend the weekend with the girls!
It started out well, we made some yummy brownies :)

Yea Hana!

Then Saturday morning we headed to the beach. It was warm and a bit windy, not near as cold as last time! We had a good time.

Brooke :)

Hana told me that "she only wanted to play in the sand, not in the water" and that is exactly what she did.

She didn't want to take off her cover-up. It is a good thing she doesn't tan, that would have made for some interesting tan lines :)

Brooke also enjoyed the sand... it tasted really yummy :)

After we got back from the beach, the girls took their naps. I was planning to take them to the park, after their nap. But Hana woke up and starting watching "The Incredible Journey" and didn't want to go... just as well.

Sunday after we went to church we waited for Daddy to come home. It was a nice girls weekend!
