More fall fun and Halloween :)

We had some more fall fun to share :)

Madeline had a cowboy day at school
Hana and Brooke's school had a fall festival.  The whole school comes out.  There are games to be played, food to eat, and friends to see :)

Madeline playing some games :)
 Getting faces painted
Yes... they both got pink cats :)
We made pumpkin bread! Yummm :)

Halloween
Now, I have previously stated that I don't like Halloween. That is still true.  I don't like all of the scary costumes and generally what it stands for.  And for some reason some people in our neighborhood get really into it.
We went to a church trunk or treat on Saturday.  It was during the hurricane so it wasn't as big as it could have been, but it definitely got us out of the house and gave the girls another chance to wear their costumes!
Soooo... on to Halloween night.  The girls were... Merida (from Brave), a flower, and a GIRLY dragon (she has on sparkly wings!!). Aren't they cute??!! It was actually quite chilly.  They each have several layers on under their costumes.  All in all it was a good night.  Lots of trick or treating and lots of candy.  But I still don't like Halloween.
 Aren't they cute? :)
She is a mommy dragon... see her baby??!!
See... some people REALLY get into it
SAME HOUSE!
All 3 trick or treating :)

The girls really enjoyed their glow stick wands... thanks Mimi!

Halloween is over... Now it is on to the GOOD holidays :)

Fall Fun... Asheville style

I have always wanted to go apple picking in the mountains in the fall.  Lucky for me my sister and her family live in the mountains!! So months ago we planned for us to come up during the girls' fall break and do some fun fall things.  We had a blast! We got to do lots of fun fall activities.  LOTS of things that we couldn't do at the beach.  It was a great trip full of lots of new experiences :)

Driving into the mountains.  Most of my children had never seen the mountains! They were amazed!
Apple picking the first day.  It was quite a hike to the apples.  But well worth it!
Brooke with a nice red apple!
posing for a family pic in an unused trailer
The leaves :) We don't have colorful leaves at the beach!
Madeline (kind of) climbing an apple tree
 Getting some "pink ladies"!
We thought this sign was silly!!
We didn't abuse the privilege, but part of the fun is trying new kinds of apples!!
The next day, we took a hike... aww the lovely trees!
We hiked about half a mile and stopped next to a river.
We (and by "we" I mean, the boys) built a fire.  We cooked hotdogs and ate lunch :)
The river was just beautiful! (And so is Hana!)
The kids had fun throwing rocks into the water
 And pretending to fish
 My little hiker!
After we got back home, the kids rested.  My sister "tricked" me into hiking 3 1/2 miles and 1,000 feet up a mountain in her neighborhood... this is the view from the top.
See how high it was! No small walk!

It was such a wonderful trip!! Thanks Steven and Courtney for having us!! It was a great experience that my kids will never forget!!

Fall Fun

It is fall!! I always love the change of season! I love when it is cool at night and we can open the windows.  I like waking up in the morning and being cool :)
I also love all of the fun holidays coming up over the next few months. Yay fall!!
My homemade fall wreath :)
Our church had a volunteer chili cook off.  It was lots of fun! They even had a place to pose for pictures :)
One of my favorite fall activities... getting pumpkins.
Some sister Love :)
 Some cute scarecrows!

Then home to paint the pumpkins!
