closed doors

for the past few months i have been pretty consumed with finding a good part time job for myself. i had several plans, for which God had no use. we all know about my preschool plan. God didn't care much for that one :) my next plan (you would think i would get the hint here) was to tutor at a local elementary school. i sent out resumes to any school that posted an opening. i even interviewed at one. but for some reason i kept getting letters saying that they had hired someone else. now i am not bragging here, but with 5 years of teaching experience surely i was qualified enough to at least interview for a tutoring position. but alas God didn't think so. but, i was still holding out hope, a woman at church (i mean it has to be God's plan when you hear about it at church? right?!) worked at a school. she told me that they had a tutoring opening. she told her school about me and they were excited. i mean this had to be the one right?! well she told me yesterday (at church!) that she thought they had 3 positions and really there was only one. that position had been taken by someone who taught there last year. another door closed. so apparently i am not supposed to work at a school either.
i am perfectly fine not working at all. however, since we have been doing FPU (which is still great!) i have really been thinking about money a lot. we are very thankful that God gave jack his promotion. but in order for us to make it and start paying down some debt (and not accruing any new debt) we still need more money. i know God has this all covered! that being said, there is another job that i would love to have. if it is in God's will... i know it will work out.
i share all of this to say that we have had MANY victories in our money fight! God has blessed us in many ways!! we just continue to need your prayers in order to know where our path leads us!

and as the old saying goes... "when God closes a door somewhere He opens a window!"

i heard this not long ago and it has been on my mind ever since ...

revelation 3:7-11 -
"what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. i know your deeds. see, i have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. i know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. since you have kept my command to endure patiently, i will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth ... hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown."

i know this sounds so super cheesy, but that "unanswered prayers" garth brooks song is a huge help to me when i feel like doors that i want opened, are slammed shut. i am constantly trying to remind myself that only He knows what's best for me, and to have faith in that. it's hard, i know. but, when you're down, think of the words to that song. i'm sure they originated somewhere in the Bible, i just don't know where :)
