brooke's hair

i have just been looking over my past blog entries and i noticed something (besides my wonderful writing skills...) brooke has almost exactly the same amount of hair now as she did a year ago... case and point.

why is this you may ask? ... she pulls it out. lovely :)

i marry hana this week!

we were coming home in the car this morning (we had planned to go to the beach but it was too cold so we ended up at the park... anyway). here is the conversation that i had with hana

hana- "when i get to be a lady i am going to have a baby in my tummy"
me- "well you have to get married first"
hana- "i will marry my daddy"
me- "you can't marry daddy, i already married him. you have to find your own man"
hana- "ok i will marry noah. can you call him and tell him that i am going to marry him"

so i call emily tell her the story... she tells noah his enthusiast response is "u-huh". we hang up and emily calls me back like a minute later and says this was noah's second response

"mommy mommy i marry hana this week!"

so i guess it is all set up hana will marry noah this week :) and it only took him a minute to make up his mind.

the body madeline gives me

i am not a fan of photographing myself during pregnancy. i don't like the way i look and generally don't want to remember it. well it does have some purpose. as i was look back over my pictures i have very few of me pregnant. so i thought i would drag out the camera and do the whole picture of yourself in the bathroom mirror (keep in mind this is a horrible way to get good pictures).
this is me at 22weeks 1 day. i also thought this would be nice for those family members that i don't get to see that often while i am pregnant :)
i feel like i overall look smaller than i did with brooke (not my belly- that is huge), but my face and stuff. this time i am trying to eat healthy and exercise 1-3 times a week. so here are some pictures of me this time and some with brooke at 23 and 22 weeks :)

the profile :)
brooke at 23 weeksthe last one is of me an court at christmas that year... i must have been like 22 weeks or so
so really even if you don't feel like i look smaller... just humor me and tell me that i do :)

a tiring day off and pool fun

let me just recap the last day and a half for my faithful readers...
so, as you know, i got friday all to myself. i had all of my hours carefully scheduled as to not miss a minute of my time off. i got up and went to try on some clothes. i picked up breakfast cashed some checks and came home to wait for emily to pick me up for the beach. in some wonderful luck mark also took off friday so we both got to go to the beach without our kids. we were there for 3 hours. which, let me tell you, seems like a lot when you plan it, but goes by in a blink of an eye. after our beach trip i headed home to shower, eat a quick late lunch and head to get my hair cut. it was great and stress free. i went straight from the hair cut to shopping! i shopped from about 4:45 to 8:00. i have not tried on that many dresses in a long long time. it was wonderful but exhausting.
i share all of this to say that at the end of my "relaxing" day off... i was exhausted!! it was a great tired... but soooo tired!

this morning we got up and headed over to jimmy and hilary's to play in the pool. it was so hot outside, but the water was a little on the numbing side. oh well, it was still a great morning of friends and fun :)
brooke thought the water was too cold for her delicate feet :)

ok... 31

i mean i had avoided and dreaded turning 30 for years... it was one of those major milestones that i had dreaded coming. but came it did. some how with dreading 30, 31 kind of snuck up on me. i guess i had forgotten that life continues and that there are ages OLDER than 30. and today i count myself in that category... i am older than 30. i am 31. *sigh* well, (as my nanny would say) it is better than the alternative :)
but with a birthday does come some fun stuff. jack and i get to go out to dinner tonight :) and tomorrow my husband (all on his own) decided to take off of work and give me the whole day to myself. i plan to go to the beach (without kids!!) get my hair cut (without kids!!) and shop (without kids!!). it should be a glorious day.
if only we could have the joys and love of a birthday without getting older... if only.

well trained

last night we were making dinner and we ran out of something (i can't remember what it was so we will just say it was... spaghetti sauce). hana says "we need to go to the store and get some more sauce". in an attempt to have her realize that you have to have money to buy things, that the store does not just give something to you because you run out of it, i asked her "what do you need to take with you to the store to get more sauce?" hana thought for a minute and said... coupons?

i am glad to know that we have trained her well... dave would be proud!

ahh hana

so this morning my wonderful inventive four year old decided to lock the bathroom door from the inside and then... close it. after some poking around in the door knob i was unable to open it. i should add at this point that i used to pick the locks at home when i was growing up, so i know what it is supposed to feel like. well i was still unable to pick this lock. so we put that on hold and headed out to the park. after a lovely morning of running around my sweet little girls were quite stinky so i went to the bathroom prepared to give them baths and what did i find??!!
a locked door!
in my frustration (and after calling my dad and finding no other solution)

this is what happened...
thanks again hana. you always keep me on my toes!

there are also some other amazing videos that our church produced... it is amazing to think our church can do this stuff. i think they could totally make a movie that would rival facing the giants or fireproof if they put their minds to it!! here are some good ones

Easter

we had not really done easter baskets in the past... so this was the first year that they both got to come out and see the baskets full of goodies :) hana was super excited! (we did not do the "easter bunny" they just got the presents from us). it was a fun morning. brooke wore her easter jewelry while she was eating her breakfast (blue berry muffins of course!).saturday night the ten commandments was on tv... as it is every easter. once again i was only able to stay up until the death angel. for some reason my body just gets exhausted at that point and i must go to bed. maybe next year when i am not pregnant i will have a shot at making it through the parting of the red sea and all the way to the ten commandments... maybe :)

Happy Easter! He is risen!!

gymnastics and easter eggs... take 2

hana got to go to another gymnastics birthday party :) the only difference is that this time i dressed her much cuter!! and once again she really enjoyed it, i may even try to get her into a gymnastics summer camp of some kind. it is a great way for her to exercise and learn something new!
hana jumps and jumps
and hangs and flips... (this time she could actually do a somersault!)

after the party jimmy, hilary, and taylor came over for dinner. we dyed and hid easter eggs. the girls did not enjoy the dying as much as i thought. but they sure were cute!!

so...

so i had my super exciting ultra sound this morning. and are you ready for the exciting news... it is still a girl. she said she was about 90% sure. which is good enough for me.
so in august we will be welcoming madeline paige to our family.

everything looks good. i am measuring about the same. all of the internal systems look good.

the girls got to come with us and "see the baby on tv". they were both interested for about the first 5 minutes or so. hana more understood what was going on. but she was more interested in the fact that i had goo on my stomach. i mean that is pretty exciting :)
i do enjoy the aspects of this pregnancy, especially since i know it will be my last. and it is always great to see the miracle God is forming in my body. how cool.

gymnastics

hana went to a gymnastics party on saturday. it was her first introduction to organized gymnastics. she had a good time and did pretty well. i mean we will not be going to the olympics next year or anything, but over all she did well :)
they started swinging into the foam pit (everyone's favorite!!)

then they did an obstacle course. which had them jump in rings...
do a somersault...
hang on a bar...
and flip over it :)

the kids listening to instructions and getting ready to play

fun day for hana :)

eggs-travaganza :)

this morning some of our friends from church, tim and rori, invited many of the moms over for an easter egg hunt. we were worried that it was going to be rained out, but it turned out to be a beautiful day! their house was perfect, with a huge back yard for the kids :) we ate some yummy food and then headed out for the hunt.

brooke trying to get the best vantage point :)
hana finding eggs. her problem was that when she found each one, she wanted to open it and see what was inside. this lead to her finding considerably fewer eggs.
brooke only wanted the candy, she tried to throw the eggs out of her basket.

one of the group (although not close to everyone) sitting down to inspect their finds.

what a beautiful day!! we had so much fun!
